Term 1 – Wednesday 29th January to Thursday 17th April
Term Break – Friday 7th February for Kaikohe East School and Kaikohe Intermediate only
Term 2 – Monday 5th May to Friday 4th July
Term 3 – Monday 21st July to Friday 26th September
Term 4 – Monday 13th October to Friday 12th December
Term 2 Timetable Trial
Staff have been considering altering bell times and doing a trial in Term 2 because we are finding the hour block from 11.30-12.30pm at the moment a little short so are considering the following change:
9-11 Literacy, 11-11.30 Interval 11.30-1pm Numeracy 1-2 Lunch 2-3 Topic etc
Junior classes particularly would have two small fruit/snack breaks during the Literacy Numeracy blocks. We welcome any feedback Whanau may have regarding the trial.
School Gala
This year our School Gala will be held on Saturday the 22nd March starting at 10am. At this stage we require helpers for various stalls and hangi preparation. If you are available to help in any way please come in and see Kohi in the school office or by phone on 4011532.
Fruit/Food in SchoolsOur fruit delivery will start on Monday 17th February. Please also remember we have Breakfast available in the hall every morning from 8-8.40am and lots of snacks available in classes for our children.
Breakfast Club
Reminder to all whanau that Breakfast Club is on every morning in our school hall from 8am.
Swim safe LessonsThe Top Energy Water Safe programme was a fantastic opportunity for our children and teachers to learn new swimming skills and drills.
Whanau hui/Sausage Sizzle 25th February
All Whanau are invited to a Whanau Hui here on Tuesday 25th February.
This is a time when Whanau can come along, have a kai, meet the teacher/s of their child/children, ask any questions and hear about what is happening in your child/children’s classroom/s for the term.
We will have two sessions to try to accommodate all Whanau. The first session will start at 3pm with Sausage Sizzle and then Whanau may go to the class/es of their children to talk with and to the teacher/s. Then at 5pm the second session will start for the next group of Whanau. There will be a Sausage Sizzle at 5pm followed by classroom time with teachers from, 5.30-6.30pm.
Everyone is welcome, choose which session time suits you and come along.
You will receive a ticket for attending from your child’s teacher that puts you in the draw for a prize.
School Uniform
We unfortunately received the wrong uniform order last week so new uniforms are having to be made. Expected arrival is 2 weeks, we apologise to whanau for this muck up which was out of our control.
Year 5-8 Ki-o-rahi Tournament
There will be a Ki-o-rahi event held on the 7th March 2014 at Lindvart Park from 10am to 2pm. We will be taking 2 teams to participate in this fun event. If your child comes home with a permission slip please get it back to their teacher as soon as possible. Whanau are very welcome to come and support.
DDF Dance Classes
Classes are starting again on 17th February at Kaikohe East School on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tutor Kahu Cassidy

Kids : 3.45pm to 4.30pm

Whanau Fun Fest 2014
The “Free” Whanau Fun Fest will be at Lindvart Park Saturday 1st March from 9am – 2pm. Various activities ranging from Kid Sport Expo organised by Sport Northland, Children’s Day by Child Youth and Family and Pepi Playground by Kaikohekohe Drop-In Centre.
