Newsletter 202031 - 18 November 2020

Welcome

This week we welcome Taleiesea and Te Tinana Mapiria and their whānau to our school.

Do you have any 5 year olds starting this year?

Over the next few weeks teachers will be discussing classes for next year. It would be extremely helpful if we knew now about any children turning 5 years old between now and the end of April/May. Please send us your child’s name and date of birth if you think that your 4 year old will be starting at our school.

If you have any questions or queries please ask by phoning, emailing or coming in to see us.

2021 Class Organization

By the end of the term we hope to have all our current children who are enrolled with us organised into their class for 2021.

If whānau have any preference for what room their child/children are in please feel free to come and talk to Whaea Chicky or your child’s class teacher.

If it is possible to have your child placed in a preferred class we are happy to do this if we can.

If you want your child to be in a bilingual class please let us know also, they should have come from a Kōhanga Reo or have very secure Te Reo Māori learning at home for this placement.

If you have any questions or queries please ask by phoning, emailing or coming in to see us.

School Photos

All photo orders have arrived and are ready for collection. Please come in to the office to collect them, if you wish to contact the office to arrange them going home with your child please do so on 09 4011532 or freephone 0508 KAIKOHE.

Photos will not be sent home with tamariki without consent.

Teacher Only Day thanks

Our thanks to whānau for Monday’s Teacher Only Day. Our staff really appreciated the day. The Junior teachers visited a school in Dargaville to look at a new approach to teaching reading while the Middle and Senior Syndicate teachers discussed how their collaborative planning for Maths can be transferred into their Literacy planning. This is our school's second of a possible 8 Teacher Only days that we can use in the next couple of years. We always try to give whānau as much notice as possible about these days and really appreciate that you can make other arrangements for our tamariki.

Budget 2021

Currently the board is discussing and planning our 2021 budget. We have started a small project down in the garden area, removing the old shed and having a container moved onto this part of the garden so that the tamariki have some shelter and shade when working in the garden area. Another project to begin soon is the installation of a shaded eating, relaxing area outside Rooms 5 and 6. We look forward to any ideas (big or small) that whānau would like to put forward for consideration. An email, message on Facebook or phone call are all ways you can share your ideas.
