Happy Holidays

This Friday, 16th April is the last day for Term 1.  We wish everyone a happy, safe holiday.  Term 2 begins on Monday 3rd May.

Please be aware that the school is locked over the holiday period and no one should enter the school grounds.

Holiday project work

Starting on the first day of the holidays we have a long awaiting shade/matted area being completed, we also have the completion of carpet/vinyl areas in the admin area happening.

Weetbix TRYathlon

Congratulations to our amazing TRYathletes who came and participated on Sunday. Thank you whānau for ensuring they were all ready to go. It was really neat to meet the fantastic parents behind these awesome tamariki. What a great day for them. We are very fortunate to have had so many helpers on the day but in particular I would like to thank Mrs Stillwell and Mrs Maihi. You both have been the BIGGEST help. Can’t wait for 2022!

Ngā mihi, Whaea Lydia.

Swimming pool closing

Today is the last day for swimming.

Lunches Term 2

Next term we are excited to be introducing Pita Pit to our lunch menu which we are really pleased to have prepared locally by Cafe Malaahi. Pita Pit will be delivered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Subway will continue to be provided on Thursday and Friday.  This is all set to begin on the first day of Term 2, 3rd May and I know our 'taste testers' for Pita Pit have given a “thumbs-up” to the new menu with chicken rice bowls, burritos and nachos on offer! Subway will also be changing things up with wraps and a cookie which we really look forward to as well.  Please let the office or class teacher know of any allergies or dietary requirements if there are any updates needed.

Room 5 – Junior Bilingual

We have about 8 spaces in our Junior Bilingual class for next term.  If any whānau are wanting to move their child/children from mainstream and they are Year 1 or 2 please come and see Whaea Jacinda or Whaea Chicky.

League Skills

On Monday we had Henry Wiki come to our school and share some league skills and drills with some of our seniors. The afternoon was enjoyed by all and we hope to have more skills sessions with Henry Wiki in future. Thank you.

Winter Sport Netball & Hockey!

First week of Term 2 we start our winter sports with Netball being played on Wednesday’s after school, from approximately 3.30pm - 4.45pm. We definitely have 3x year 5/6 teams and 1 year 3/4 team to enter in the competition.

We only have 3 coaches and are looking for one other to help manage on the day.

Hockey starts the first Saturday of next term and we are looking at entering 6 teams. 3x mini sticks teams and 3 x senior teams. That could possibly change if we lack Whānau support to help manage a team on Saturday’s.

Also during Term 2, Taal Smith will be running a basketball module for U9's, U11’s and

U13’s at Northland College on Monday afternoon’s from week 4, starting at 3.45pm to 5.30pm. We have 2x U11's and 1x U9's team. We do have a U9's manager and we are looking for 2 more managers for our U11's.

If whānau wish to come and support our teams by managing or coaching a team in our sporting areas to give our tamariki that opportunity and experience of being part of a team and having fun, please don't hesitate to come see Whaea Claire or Whaea Lydia.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou
