Welcome to all our new tamariki and their whanau!

Here are the names of our new tamariki – Hendrix Tahere, Honey Ben-Kimi, Harlem Croft. 

Easter Break

School will be closed from Friday 2nd April until Tuesday 6th April.  School opens on Wednesday 7th April.

Pukenui / Forest Pools Haerenga

Room 4, 12 and 15 whanau and tamariki - our trip is tomorrow Thursday 25th of March 2021.  

We will be leaving school at approximately 9.15am and returning by 2.15pm. Please make sure if you are on the trip you bring a drink bottle, comfortable shoes, a packed lunch and swimming togs for the day. Any enquiries contact your child’s teacher or the office.

 

Hone Heke Monument Trip

Senior and Middle syndicate classes will be walking to the Hone Heke Monument as part of their Kaikohekohe inquiry learning. 

Dates are as follows

Rooms 10, 9, 8, 7 - Thursday 1st of April

Rooms 14 & 15 – Thursday 8th April

Rooms 12, 16, 17 – Friday 9th April

Akau – Te Reo Maori on the Streets of Kaikohe

We have a group of 15 students who are involved in a project run by Akau. They have been selecting, designing and painting kupu maori, which will eventually end up on a wall in the main street of Kaikohe. Here is a picture of them hard at mahi last week!

Weetbix TRYathlonCould all tryathlete students please bring their bikes to school every  week Tuesday and Wednesday for training.

Rugby League Skills

We have Henry Wiki visiting our school on April 12th of this term at 1.30pm – 2.30pm to share some league skills with some of our interested senior students. 

Kaikohe FootballRegistrations open for the 2021 season.

If your child is interested in football there is another registration day on Sunday 28th March 10am -12noon Lindvart Park.

Winter Sport Netball & Hockey!Thank you to all whanau who sent back permission slips for Netball and Hockey. We are sorting and placing those children into teams and will send home a notice on the 7th April to let whanau know who your child’s coach will be and the team they will be in.

Netball and Hockey will start the first week of term 2.

Netball will be played on Wednesdays after school at approximately 3.40pm to 4.45pm starting on the 5th of May through to 7th of July 2021. There will be a year 3/4 grade and a year 5/6 grade.

Hockey will be played on Saturdays starting Saturday 8th May, term 2. 

10.00am Funsticks 0-2 years.

10.00am Mini sticks year 2-4

11.30am Kiwi Sticks development teams Years 3-5

12.30pm Kiwi sticks professionals Years 5/6

Kaikohe East School Board

The Kaikohe East School Board will meet at the school at 11:30am on Monday 29 March.

Basketball 2021Next term Taal Smith will be running a basketball module from 24th May till 27th October. Games will be played on Monday evenings starting at 4pm and could run until 5.30pm. Notices will be going home to children interested next week Wednesday.
