Welcome to all our new tamariki and their whānau!

Nau mai haere mai!

Here are the names of our new tamariki – Hendrix Tahere and SkylerNaera. 

Easter Break

School will be closed from Friday 2nd April until Tuesday 6th April. School opens on Wednesday 7th April.

Thanks for Friday 12th March

Thank you to whānau who made arrangements for their tamariki to be at home last Friday. The staff had a positive hui with some new learning that we will be putting into practise starting this week. One of our new learning focuses was around how we teach reading and writing. It involves explicitly teaching the critical skills needed to develop early reading and spelling development by having more of a focus on letter sounds and using combinations of letter sounds to help read and write words.

Most classes will start their Literacy times in classes with some new “warm up” sessions that will assist tamariki learn these important basics.

Pukenui - Forest Pools Haerenga

Unfortunately Rooms 4, 12, 15 were unable to go on the haerenga last week due to the weather.  Our new date for our trip is now Thursday 25th of March 2021. We will be leaving school approximately at 9.15am and returning by 2.15pm. Please make sure your child has a drink bottle, comfortable shoes, a packed lunch and their swimming togs for the day. Any enquiries contact your child’s teacher or the office.

 

Please expect home today another pānui with all information included.  Return this to school as soon as possible or by Tuesday 23rd of March.

Ākau – Te Reo Māori on the Streets of Kaikohe

We have a group of 15 students who will be involved in a project run by Ākau. They will be selecting, designing and painting kupu māori onto a wall in the main street of Kaikohe. This group started their mahi today and their next visit will be next Wednesday 24th March.

Winter Sport Netball & Hockey

Netball and Hockey will start the first week of May term 2, 2021.

Netball will be played on Wednesdays after school at approximately 3.40pm to 4.45pm starting on the 5th of May through to 7th of July 2021. There will be a year 3/4 grade and a year 5/6 grade.

Hockey will be played on Saturdays starting Saturday 8th May 2021, term 2. 

10.00am Funsticks 0-2 years.

10.00am Mini sticks year 2-4

11.30am Kiwi Sticks development teams Years 3-5

12.30pm Kiwi sticks professionals Years 5/6

Permission slips will be sent home today with your child if they have shown an interest in playing winter sport for next term and please return to school as soon as possible to Whaea Claire. This will determine the number of teams that will be registered. We also need to acquire whānau support in helping to coach or manage a team for the term. If you have any queries please contact Whaea Claire or Whaea Lydia.

Weetbix TryathlonCould all tryathlete students please bring their bikes to school next week on Tuesday and Wednesday for training.

The Season will start Saturday May 8th all being well.

If you are interested in football for junior, youth and seniors there is a rego day Sunday 21st March 10am-12noon at

Lindvart Park.
