Welcome
Welcome back to all our tamariki and theirwhānau. This week we especially welcome all our new 5 year olds and children and their whānau who have moved to Kaikohe East School.
Nau mai haere mai!
Here are the names of our new tamariki -
L.J Rameka-Keefe, Hayze and Zyuis Waikai-Kepa, Kaydence Whitu-Dickson, Nikau-Pene Padlie, Sharon and Kapo Riini and Manawa and Liam Roberts.
Welcome also to our new staff – Whaea Jacinda who is teaching in Manawanui, Whaea Renee who is teaching in Room 12 and Whaea Ellen who is teaching in Room 17.
School Closed
Due to Waitangi Day being on a Saturday, there will be no school on Monday 8th February.

Whānau are welcome to come into school at any time on Friday to sit in their child’s/children’s class, see their mahi and join in on any mahi happening during the day. There may also be opportunity forwhānau to have a kōrero with kaiako. Please make sure you sign in at the office to go into a draw for a school polo shirt. Once you have signed in feel free to go into classrooms. Sausage-sizzle and ice blocks provided for all students after the sports.
Breakfast Club
Whaea Nicky started Breakfast Club today. Breakfast will be available in the school hall every day from 8am until about 8.30am.

All teachers will have ready to send home today a Class letter outlining initial Term 1 school and classroom organisation. We hope you find this information helpful. Any queries please get in touch with your child’s class teacher.

School Lunch Orders
Every Thursday and Friday we have school lunch orders available. Pies $2 and Juicies $1. Please order before 9am in the school office, lunches will be delivered to classes at lunchtime.
Free lunches in schools programme
Many schools are entering a free lunches in schools programme. Our school is in the process of getting our system and supplier underway. We hope to start providing lunches at the beginning of Term 2.
Stationary
All children are given a pack of stationary when they begin in their new class. There is no cost for stationary provided that your child is at school 100 % for the first two weeks of school. If they are awaywhānau will be invoiced for $20.
Marae Overnight Stays
Our classroom teachers are in the process of planning their overnight stay, more information should be in each classroom’s “Class Letters” as well as more information and permission slips to follow in the next few weeks, see below for classroom marae stay dates:

Rooms 4, 12, 15 - Wednesday 3rd March
Rooms 1, 2, 10 - Thursday 4th March

Te Arahura Kāhui Ako – Teacher Only Day
Many schools involved in our Kāhui Ako met at Northland College at the end of January to participate in our first Huihuinga for the year focussing on Relationships and how important they are. We are planning another professional development day on the 12th March, School will be closed on this day.
