“Proud, prepared learners”

·       There is only 2 weeks to go to the Gala Day on Saturday 9th March, 10am.

·       Whanau please start sending these things to school if you can: potatoes, kumara, pumpkin, onions, clean newspaper and plastic bags for the hangi.  Items of clothing or bric-a-brac for the White Elephant stall. Any suitable raffle items.

·       Or if you know of where we can purchase cheap items above please let us know.

·       We would also appreciate a ute load of hangi wood.

·       On Saturday 9th by 9am if possible don’t forget to send back your child’s cake box with some special baking in it. There will be lucky prizes for the most interesting and special baking.

·       If you are assisting with a stall please come to the office by 9am to collect your stall goods and head to your stall to set up.

·       Gloves must be worn when helping at food stalls.

·       We must sell tickets for all food stalls and rides, tickets will all have the value of $1, so if you are buying something for $4 you will need to hand over 4 tickets.

·       The only stalls that will accept money will of course be the 50cent toss and maybe the Candyfloss stall run by the Wards whanau.

·       All tickets (including hangi and raffle) will be sold from out the front of the office

·       We anticipate the hangi being ready down by the pool at about 3pm

·       We are still looking for helpers on the various stalls.  If you can help, or if you want to know more, contact us at the school on 4011532 or come in and record your name on the whiteboard.

White Elephant stall

·       If you have anything for the White Elephant stall, bring it along.  Plants, preserves, clothing, footwear, bric-a brac etc send them along.

Ticket sales for food stalls and rides

·       No money will be taken from any stalls except the 50c toss and candyfloss stalls.

·       Hangi tickets will be available prior to Saturday at $8 each.  Call in pay and collect your hangi tickets at the office.

·       Otherwise see the ladies outside the office on the 9th.

Setting up

·       On Saturday 9th March we will start setting up stalls at about 7am. Any help will be much appreciated from this time.

Hangi Preparation

·       Please come along to the school hall on Friday the 8th from 9am if you can.

·       We will get vegetables peeled, washed and hangi packs prepared. The more help we get for this preparation the earlier we get finished.

·       We also need wrappers at the hangi pit on Saturday from approx. 2pm

Cake Boxes

·       One cake box per family will be distributed as per the newsletter.

·       This is for you to fill with some creative baking or some other surprise to sell at a premium at the Gala Day.

·       Cake boxes should be returned on Saturday 9th at approximately 9am if possible to Room 7 - Manawanui

·       The lucky winners will be announced at a school assembly soon after the Gala Day.

·       If you require another box please see your child’s teacher or call in at the office, be sure we give it a number and Room number so we can identify it.

Class Hamper Boxes

·        Send any non-perishable items suitable for a class hamper box that will be used on the quick fire raffles please. Items such as: tins of food, packets of noodles, soap powder, cleaning products etc

·        Class Hampers will be judged on Thursday 7th and two classes awarded prizes.

Tell your friends about the Gala Day!
