Huihuinga Term 3

Schools (including Kaikohe East) will be closing early for a Te Arahura Huihuinga to be held on 16 August - Week 4 Term 3 (back up date 23 August - Week 5).

NZEI Dates

Classes doubling up tomorrow

Teachers will be attending paid union meetings next Thursday 9th May. Classes will be “doubled up” to allow all teachers who are members to attend.

Netball started last week and it was awesome. This week all players need to meet their coach at Lindvart Park by 8.30am, be sure to wear sensible shoes, bring a jacket, bag and a water bottle. Teams will play one game every Saturday and games will play every Saturday unless there is a weather warning in place.

Thanks to our whānau and coaches for a great vibe at last Saturday's games. This week all players need to meet their coach at the Turf.

All fun stick players, Whaea Kohi and Whaea Michelle’s teams, need to be at the turf at 8.45am

Whaea Michelle’s mini sticks and Whaea Claire’s senior Kiwi sticks both have a BYE this weekend, so no hockey.

Please remember to bring with you your mouthguard, shoes and a drink.

Student Leadership Conference

Yesterday Whaea Kaz and Mrs Maihi took a small group of Year 6 children to the Student Leaders conference in Auckland. All costs will be covered by the school.

Here they are this morning ready to enter the Conference at Spark Arena.

All classes will be participating but only selected children will present their speeches in the hall. There will be the opportunity for Year 5 -6 children to compete in either the competitive or non-competitive section.

Two children from the competitive section will represent us at the Kaikohe Rotary Competition that is being held at the Kaikohe RSA on the evening of Wednesday 19th June.

Pedestrian Crossing on Broadway

Every morning from 8.15-8.30am and 3-3.15pm Mrs Maihi is on road duty at the pedestrian crossing closest to Paper Plus and the Doctors. Please be sure your child gets to the crossing so that they can cross during these times.

We have also purchased a cone/flag to place in the middle of the two other pedestrians to help motorists notice and slow down when approaching. It has been pleasing to see Constable Whiti Tipoki out on the roads in the mornings also doing his bit to help keep our tamariki safe when walking to and from school.
