Newsletter 201738 - 29 November 2017

This week we welcome new student Miah Kire-Kaukau and her whanau to our school.

Reports home

On Wednesday 6th December most children will be bringing home their end of year school report in an envelope.   While we try very hard to ensure reports go home error free, at times we get things wrong, therefore if you see any errors in your child’s report do not hesitate to come and see us. If whanau have any specific questions or queries about anything in their child’s report please come and see your child’s teacher.  Children who have been at school less than a term will not receive an end of year report but whanau are welcome to come and get an update from their class teacher.

Board Meeting

The Kaikohe East School Board will meet at the school at 1:30pm on Wednesday 6 December. Go here  for the agenda and associated reports.

OSCAR Holiday Programme

Whanau who are interested please contact OSCAR on 02725822244 or 09 4053996.  The holiday programme will run from 11th December until 22 December and then again from 15th January.  For costs please phone OSCAR or look online at Kaikohe Oscar blogspot.

Please let the office know if your child is interested in next year’s Tryathlon to be held on SATURDAY April 8th in Waitangi. You MUST be able to bring your own child and their bike. They must be 7yrs on the day. The school will pay for the first 15 entry fees so get in quick!

Health Topics 2018

The school is required to consult with whanau about the Health topics being taught.

Next year our Health Curriculum topics are likely to include the following ideas/topics/content

Term 1 Sun safety and using WITS (walk away, ignore, tell someone rather than get into an argument with someone)

Term 2 Healthy Eating and being active

Term 3 Life Education - keeping safe and taking care of my body, fire safety and first aid.

Term 4 Personal Hygiene

If whanau have anything they wish to discuss, add to, please contact the school office on 094011532 or email chicky@kaikeast.school.nz

Bilingual spaces for 2018

te reo Maori at home and are willing to support your child/children please let us know so that we can consider them for either Manawanui, Rangimarie or Tumanako.

Mainfreight Calendars 2018

The eldest child in your whanau should bring home with this newsletter a 2018 Mainfreight calendar. Congratulations to Kaiyah Kire- Kaukau and Whaiora Tarawa from Room 3 who have both been lucky enough to have their art work selected for this year’s calendars.

All school photos are available for collection from the office.  Thanks to the whanau who have been in to collect photos.  All photos not collected are being sent home with children today if they have a school bag.  It may still be possible to order photos by phoning 0800 501040.

We are organising classes for next year. If you have a child that is turning five over the christmas break and will be attending our Kura next year please could you try to come in and enrol them before the end of the school year. Then we will have them placed in a class ready to start in January 2018.

Transition at our school

On Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th December all children will be working in their class group for 2018 and will spend both these days in their new class with their teacher for 2018.  On these two days the Year 6 children will spend time with teachers leaving at the end of this year. They will have planned activities on these days.
