We welcome back to school next Thursday Mrs Shields who has been away on leave for some time.  A special farewell and thank you to Whaea LeeAnn Rakete who has been relieving for Mrs Shields in Room 12.

Friday 9th December – staff at Professional Development from 1pm

Coming home with today’s newsletter is a yellow form we need whanau to complete and return by next Thursday 8th December.  All staff will be attending a Professional Development afternoon from 1pm on this day at Northland College with all other local schools. We need to know what is happening to your child at this time please.  Feel free to ring us or see your child’s teacher if you prefer.  Buses will leave from school from 1pm on this day.

There will be minimal supervision available on this day.

Classes for 2017 - Transition

Classes for 2017 have been finalised.  On Tuesday 13th December and Wednesday 14th we will have transition for next year.  All children will be told their class and teacher 2017 and will spend these two days in their new class with their new teacher where possible.  At this stage the only teacher unable to be here is Whaea Claire Edmonds who will be teaching in Room 15 next year.

Tomorrow we are hosting the local interschool Athletics champs. We have about 15 of our champion athletes competing.

There will be sausage sizzle $2 and iceblocks $1 for sale on the field from 1pm for all children.

End of Year Reports

On Wednesday the 7th of December all children who have been at school for at least 6 weeks will be receiving a report to show how they are progressing toward the National Standard and to give whanau the opportunity to see what their child knows and what their next learning steps are.

Next year we will be asking whanau about how they find our reports.  Are they clear? Are they giving you good information? Would you rather a face to face report etc?  We look forward to your comments about this.

Junior Syndicate Celebration

On Thursday, December 8th the Junior Syndicate (Rooms 1, 2, 3, 8, and Manawanui) will be running Christmas craft activities followed by a shared kai and a swim. Whanau are welcome to visit us for the activities and the shared kai. A reminder notice will be sent home closer to the date.

Super 11 to Action World

On Monday 11th December the kapahaka roopu that won first prize at the Waimate Show will be going to spend their winnings on a day out at Action World in Paihia.

Santa’s Grotto Visits

All classes over the next couple of weeks will be walking up to Santa’s Grotto that has been developed at the old Mitre 10 building.

Attendance in 2017

Teachers are asking whanau who have children with unsatisfactory attendance recorded on their end of school reports to please try to get their child/children to school more regularly in 2017.  Our school wide attendance is very poor and while we don’t want children at school who are sick we are aware that at times children are kept home for what we believe are unjustified reasons.  We also appreciate whanau contacting us to ensure we record accurately why children are away.  Any concerns regarding this do not hesitate to come and talk to us.
