No Bought Lunches on Friday 15 May

Please support our Sausage Sizzle (below).

Sausage Sizzle - Friday 15 May

This Friday 15 May Manawanui is having a sausage sizzle to fundraise for the Leukemia and Blood Cancer Foundation. Sausages will be $2.00 and delivered to classrooms at lunchtime. Order forms will be going to classrooms and collected Friday morning. Please show your support for this awesome cause by buying a yummy sausage sizzle!!

All tamariki who buy a sausage will go in the draw to win a hamper. This will be drawn on Friday afternoon.

Funds will go with Matua Aaron and his Kaikohe Sky Tower Challenge Team. They are climbing the Sky Tower on 23 May in support of the Leukemia and Blood Cancer Foundation.

Bay Of Islands Rippa Rugby Tournament

Friday May 15 - 9:00am-2:00pm at the Kerikeri Sports Complex

We will be taking 2 teams to this tournament. A Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 team.

If selected our child will bring home a permission slip. Please sign and send back to school as soon as possible. If you can come and support our two teacher coaches on this day please let us know at the office.

Room 1

Due to the number of 5 year olds, next week we will divide Room 1 into two groups. One group will be the children who have been enrolled the longest. Their teacher will be Miss Snow and the newer 5 year olds will have Whaea Becs as their teacher. We will try our best to contact whanau to let them know which teacher their child will be with. On a Fridays it is likely that both classes will combine to do joint activities and learning.

Any queries do not hesitate to come and see us!

Rugby League

Special thanks to Dads/League-coaches Milan Eruera and Ken Moka for coming forward and getting our first school league team organised. Players will need to be at Lindvart Park today at 4:00pm to meet coaches.

Please bring a mouth guard if you have one, and a water bottle. You will be given a uniform to play in and this will be collected at the end of the games. Games are 4:00pm every Wednesday at Lindvart Park and practices at school every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:15.

Well done to both teams who played on Saturday.

Hockey practice is at Lindvart Park at 3:30-4:30pm every Monday, and at lunchtime at school on Wednesdays and Fridays.

On Saturdays Kaikohe East 2 (Y3-4) needs to be at turf by 10:30am. Games start at 11:00am.

Kaikohe East 1 (Y5-6) needs to be at turf by 11:30. Games start at 12pm.

What another neat Saturday of Netball! Our Players of the Day who will receive a McDonald’s voucher are:

Keila Emile for consistent defence throughout her game!

Bruce Tautari for awesome defence!

All players are reminded to be at Lindvart Park each Saturday by 8.15am.

First Aid Training

Last night all teachers and some support staff attended a very enjoyable First Aid Training course. The course involved basic skills that will enable us to assess, manage and assist should we be faced with an accident or a situation requiring first aid support.

Fluoride Varnish

We have just been advised that fluoride varnish is to be applied to children’s teeth at the school dental clinic every 6 months. This is another initiative from the Northland District Health Board to help prevent tooth decay in children’s teeth

If you want to know more contact Oral Health Promotions Adviser Shareen Ali at Northland District Health Board 0-9-4304101 extension 60624.

Kaikohe East Playgroup

The playgroup is now open for any 4 year old tamariki who are not currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Centre or programme.

The Playgroup is being run by two amazing young mothers – Emily Rogers who has a degree in Early Childhood and Mikaela Beazley Tango who has been instrumental in the success of the playgroup in the main street.

If you have any queries at all don’t hesitate to come and see Emily or Mikaela or ring the school.
