81% is a little low for attendance at this school. 2011 was only 79%, 2012, 2013 and 2015 were all 83% and 2014 was 85%. There is no significant difference between genders.
In 2015 there was no difference between ethnic groups at all but a difference of 4% in 2016 should be noted. For the first time in years we have had enough pupils to differentiate between NZ European and “Other” in the non-Maori category. We have 3 pupils who are designated as year 7 and 3 as year 0 but as they can be easily identified we do not report on these groups.
In the past the attendance percentage of pupils improved as they got older. Consequently, senior rooms had better attendance than junior rooms. This has changed recently and the difference in age levels is insignificant. Happily, it is the juniors who have better attendance, not just the seniors who have worse.
Not counting two pupils with serious health issue, attendance levels range from 35% to 99%. 35% means the pupils only attended for about 44 days over the whole year, our 8 pupils with 99% only missed one day all year.
