Attendance rate per Session | Term 1, 2013 83.00% | 23169 / 27822 | Term 1 2012 83.5171 % | Term 1 2011 79.5% | 275 Pupils |
Gender | Number of pupils | There has never been a significant difference between attendance of boys and girls but an absence rate of 19% for boys compared to 15% for girls is getting close to significant and might warrant a closer look. | Female | 85% | 12483 / 14660 | 141 | Male | 81% | 10686 / 13162 | 134 | Ethnicity | Number of pupils | As only 6% of our pupils are non-Maori, this data is not of any significance. | Cook Isl Maori | 91% | 792 / 866 | 9 | Indian | 84% | 311 / 369 | 3 | NZ European | 90% | 300 / 332 | 4 | NZ Maori | 83% | 21474 / 25875 | 256 | Form | Number of pupils | Attendance always improves as pupils get older and peaks at year 6. (It begins to drop again in year 7 or 8) There is nothing unusual in the trend except that our year 1 pupils have higher attendance than usual. Term 1 last year for example was only 74% (26% absent) for year 1 and in 2011 it was only 72% (28% absent) | Y1 | 81% | 1745 / 2142 | 32 | Y2 | 80% | 4849 / 6048 | 63 | Y3 | 82% | 4596 / 5601 | 54 | Y4 | 85% | 3841 / 4523 | 40 | Y5 | 85% | 3968 / 4663 | 41 | Y6 | 86% | 4170 / 4845 | 45 | Room | Number of pupils | There is no significant difference in attendance between classes. The differences that do show are related to the year level of that class. The bi-lingual unit (te Korowai o te Aroha) continues to have slightly higher attendance levels. In this term 85.9% (14.1% absent) compared to non-bi-lingual of 82% (18% absent) While the senior class (Rangimarie) is much the same as the general senior classes, there is a higher attendance in their junior classes. | Manawanui | 86% | 1491 / 1728 | 17 | Rangimarie | 85% | 2206 / 2596 | 21 | Rm 1 | 84% | 1103 / 1310 | 17 | Rm 3 | 83% | 1535 / 1846 | 18 | Rm 4 | 80% | 1718 / 2145 | 18 | Rm 5 | 87% | 1976 / 2262 | 18 | Rm 6 | 85% | 1914 / 2249 | 19 | Rm12 | 87% | 2636 / 3032 | 26 | Rm14 | 88% | 2049 / 2331 | 19 | Rm15 | 86% | 2550 / 2949 | 24 | Tumanako | 87% | 3176 / 3631 | 28 | left | 47% | 815 / 1743 | 50 | Summary An attendance rate of 83% for the first term is about normal for our school and this area. Term 1 2012 was much the same and term 1 of 2011 was a bit below this. Term 1 is usually our best term as far as attendance goes. This is probably as much to do with the weather as anything else. Initiatives such as breakfast club might have some effect. While the number attending breakfast club is not great (10 or 12 a day usually) those pupils have very high attendance.
